Why locals love it
Kendall Square has many "dynamic" and "design" driven, trendy places. Catalyst lives up to its pretension. Reclaimed wood, dark metals, and exposed lighting matches the trendy vibe of the food and staff. With many places in the area charging quite a bit for a cocktail and an entree, might as well walk through the right door.

Why you should visit it
With local and sustainable efforts in mind, the inventive, handmade dishes are pleasing and seasonal. Two staple items stay on the menu year-round: their infamous burger and (my personal favorite) the tournedos of beef, which comes with creamed kale, foie gras butter, and black truffle sauce. The bar is also gorgeous if you just stop in for drinks.
Special tip
It's a great bar to watch a game at if you don't want the binge-drinking, beer-spilling, fatty-food vibes of a sports bar.
