Boulder probably has one of the strongest Buddhist communities of any small town west of Asia, including a significant numer of Nepali and Tibetan expats. Members are supported by the Naropa (America's first fully accredited Buddhist university), a handful of authentic curry houses and the Shambhala Meditation Center.
The Shambhala Center offers introductory meditation instruction, public meditation practice, and a variety of classes on the Shambhala teachings. If you're simply curious, stop by a Sunday morning open house or Wednesday evening drop-in meditation instruction to get acquainted free of charge.
Meditation is healthy for everyone and can be practiced by anyone- by no means do you need to be a devout Buddhist.
