Sure, you could come here purely to drink cheap beer and talk over the performance; but you'd be missing the point. Passionate audiences are indeed attracted to this venue by this sumptuous art-deco theater by it's lavish styling, but more so by the eclectic mix of local and national jazz, hip-hop, funk, rock and dynamic high-concept acts.
As a very gross generalization, the Boulder Theater is more 'mature' compared to the city's other premier venue, The Fox. Largely due to it's location downtown rather than on university hill, attendees here are somewhat more interested in appreciating artful music than merely getting intoxicated or hooking up.
Though it is grand, this isn't a huge theater so tickets do sell out for popular shows. If possible, save yourself any heartache by booking ahead.
