Locals tend to avoid eating from the national chains of the 16th street mall, but sometimes you inevitably find yourself in the thick of it with a gnawing hunger. Illegal Pete's, a homegrown Colorado burrito joint with more street cred than Chipotle (it's much larger, also Colorado-born cousin) is an oasis of cool in the corporate food desert.
The burritos are made with fresh ingredients and generously proportioned. You choose all the ingredients by pointing, so infinite avenues of customization are possible. A few good beers are on tap, and the casual atmosphere of the restaurant lends itself to hanging around for a couple pints.
Breakfast burritos are available till 10:30am during the week and till 1:00pm on weekends.
