Macky is the nearest thing Boulder has to a cathedral, built in a breathtaking Neo-Gothic style complete with lancet windows, vaulted ceilings and seating for over 2,000. After first breaking ground in 1909, the construction took 13 years to complete. It's been the primary cultural venue of the University of Colorado at Boulder campus ever since.
Following major renovations in 1986 and again in 2008, Macky emerged as one of the region's premier concert and lecture halls. Just as impressive as the structure is the list of presenters and performers who have graced the stage, including Neil deGrasse Tyson, the Dalai Lama and Eleanor Roosevelt among many other iconic names.
Amid stiff competiton, the Conference on World Affairs is a particularly special program with events held here every April.
