Rocky Mountain Park pit stop

Oskar Blues Grill & Brew

Why locals love it

Not in Boulder proper but rather a nearby small town called Lyons, this is the best pit stop between Boulder and Rocky Mountain National Park, which is simply gorgeous at any time of year and very much deserves a visit. On the way there or back, this flagship location routinely hooks up locals with wholesome bar fare and cool craft brews.

Why you should visit it

Oskar Blues' Dale's Pale Ale, a crisp brew with more of a citrus bite than you might expect, was one of the nation's first craft beers to be canned- an extremely practical solution which has caught on like wildfire since. In addition to this and other respectable beers, the kitchen serves hearty grill fare with cajun and southwestern influences.

Special tip

If you like this place, you'll love Oskar Blues' Liquids & Solids establishment Longmont, also nearby though not so en route to a major destination.
