Scott Carpenter Park

Why locals love it

A grand sloping lawn ideal for flying a kite or tossing a frisbee in spring and autumn, sunbathing or picnicking in summer and sledding in winter draws hundreds of locals throughout the year. The playground is also unusually iconic, with a giant steel rocket ship and a set of parallel metal discs to keep kids entertained with their own echoes.

Why you should visit it

As mentioned, the lawn is great for lounging. There's also a small swimming hole in the creek that runs along the southern edge of the park, a full public swimming pool and a skate park. On Thursday evenings, the rioutous Boulder bike cruise meets here.
