Known by locals as the "Sundowner", just the "Downer" or, better yet, the "Scumdowner". This place is the town's best dive bar complete with sticky floors, cheap pitchers, plenty of pool and foosball tables and a rowdy late night crowd of students, hipsters, hippies and simple boozers. A welcome breath of dirty air from refined craft culture.
Why you should visit it
When Boulder's polished yuppie culture starts to feel monotonous, venture into the grimy basement of the Sundown Saloon for a change of pace. Oddly well located in the midst of the chic Pearl Street, the "Downer" is a regular end-of-the-night stop for many locals, all of which are extremely friendly by the time they get here.
Special tip
Pitchers of PBR are only $6. To experience a true Boulder rite of passage, try to get yourself kicked out (but please, stop short of being arrested).
