Of all Boulder's cafés, The Laughing Goat is easily the most colorful and lively. Poetry readings, open mic nights, musical concerts, rotating hangings of local artwork and the ever-present running dialogues of amateur and professional academics earn this place it's second title after coffeehouse: community performance venue.
Sit as long as you like amid the expressive activity and no one will bother you, unless of course you care to play devil's advocate in one of the metaphysical discussions sure to be taking place at the next table. Or, come in the evening when the barristas become bartenders to discover some local talent. The coffee and chair are good too.
Not every open mic night is particularly high brow... but a lack of pretension is partly what makes this place great so try not to judge too harshly.
