Why locals love it

The museum is not far from the centre, located on the edge of an artificial peninsula where the mighty Danube flows... It is one of the youngest museums of European modern art, started in 2000. Since this attractive place has been opened, there have been more than 250 thousands of visitors.

Why you should visit it

Unusual location close to the border of Hungary and Austria. A museum where not just the exhibitions that take place inside are unique, but also the architecture of the building itself is special. Beautiful scenery and surroundings, blue sky and endless river banks, peaceful and relaxing surface of the river.

Special tip

Every Saturday and Sunday you can get there by boat!

Danubiana is located approximately 20km from the city centre, however it's definitely worth going. You can get a bus from the centre, which takes you directly to the gallery. It's the biggest gallery for contemporary art in Bratislava and it's really truly wonderful - there are works from local and international artists alike featured in the museum, plus it has an amazing shop, perfect for anyone who enjoys huge coffee table art books, nice stationery, or designer home decoration. The are is stunning too - the Water works Gabcikovo surrounding the gallery emphasizes the romantic atmosphere.
