Excellent tour out of the city!
We had a wonderful hike with Erich and the doggies from Sloboda Zvierat. The hike took us through the beautiful and peaceful Bratislava City Forests and we had hours of delightful conversation with Erich and watching the doggies walk, run and explore the forests. Erich was very knowledgeable about the city and Slovakia as a whole and it was great to chat about the history of Slovakia and other topics. Erich also made changes to the hike when he saw that it was necessary, like when the hiking path was icy and slippery. He would check with us often if we are progressing ok. He also extended the hike for us since we had time to continue. The doggies were very happy to be outdoors and their energy level seems limitless! Although they were excited and wanted to keep running all the time, it was actually easy to walk them. They are all well-behaved doggies. The shelter seems to be well-managed. This was the best experience we had in Bratislava and we highly recommend it.
Happy Dog Forest Hike in Bratislava
Amazing
This hike was probably the highlight of my trip to Bratislava! Everything ran smoothly, we were advised the best way of getting to the pick up point, collected and taken to the dog shelter. We chose the dogs we wanted to walk and then set off in the direction of the forest. We had roughly a 3 hour hike which led us through some of the most lovely woodland I’ve seen and stopped for a cup of Slovakian cola and a snack. Thoughout the walk our guide, Erich, was extremely knowledgeable about the area and wildlife. Unluckily for us we had to catch a flight in the afternoon so we were pushed for time but we where advised that if this wasn’t the case then we could have extended our walk. Erich was also a very interesting guy and it was nice to hear some of his stories. He also helped us out with getting to the airport after the hike, he took us to the best bus stop and advised us on change overs. Overall I had a wonderful time and would 100% book again.

This is an excellent tour
This hike / tour was a ton of fun. The dogs are so happy to be outside and and the scenery is beautiful. Erich knew a lot about the area, though he is a quiet guy, so just make sure to pay attention. He was very nice and always checking to make sure we were alright. Over all it was a great experience and I would recommend it to anyone. There is the choice between big and small dogs, so children can easily participate.

Excellent tour
We wanted a tour which wasn't just city centre and gave us a taste of Bratislava's and indeed Slovakia's history. Our tour guide Brana did just that. He used his own experience of being a local to share his knowledge as well as his education. The guide book really illustrated his points too. The bike tour was lovely.... We learnt about the city centre and beyond. Luckily it was good weather and we were treated to some historic refreshments! We loved Bratislava but loved it even more after our tour. It was flat in the main and about three hours long with plenty of interesting stops and conversations.

Great guide and tour - enjoyed doing something a bit different!
The guide was very knowledgeable and had a great personality. We all thoroughly enjoyed the tour and were glad we chose the bike option.

Fantastic alternative view of Bratislava
My husband, 15yr old son and I loved our tour with Juro. We were met in an original 1971 Skoda 100 - such a cool little car. We learnt so much about Bratislava that we would not have known or seen otherwise. Juro kept us entertained the whole trip. We would definitely recommend this tour to everyone.
Post-Communist Bratislava Tour

Private Guided Walking Tour of Bratislava
Very interesting tour with a great guide!
Post-Communist Bratislava Tour
A not to missed tour of Bratislava
I'm so pleased that I booked this alternative real view of the city. Our delightful guide and driver Juro was engaging and knowledgeable, driving my party in the "luxurious" and "modern" VW Caravelle! We learnt a great deal about the turbulent events that took place here in the 20thC. I had booked for four people but had three extras join, we were part of a choir visiting Bratislava. A brilliant morning. I highly recommend this to anyone. Juro returned the compliment by attending our concert in the evening.
Post-Communist Bratislava Tour
A unique morning in Bratislava
We kicked off our first morning in Bratislava with this great tour and got much more than we expected. Thank you to Authentic Slovakia for the best part of our trip and for sharing your personal stories along with some unique sights! I can highly recommend Authentic Slovakia to anyone visiting! We did this tour as a group of friends aged 35-40 and also took the Iron Curtain Bike Tour.
Post-Communist Bratislava Tour
Great excursion outside the city
This guided bike tour is a great way to get outside of the city for some unique sights while getting a personal perspective on the history of Bratislava and Slovakia. I can highly recommend Authentic Slovakia to anyone visiting! We did this tour as a group of friends aged 35-40 and also took the Post-Socialist City Tour.

Sweet Tour, worth the money!
What was out of anyone's control: We had bad luck and booked our tour on one of the coldest days of recent history (down to -14° C), so we couldn't take the Skodas - it just too cold. Definitely not our guide's fault. Instead we got to do the tour with a VW Caravan from 92. Having said that, this tour was amazing and I'd recommend it to everyone! Our guide Peter knew a lot about the city, gave the tour a personal touch with his stories and (for this kind of tour not unimportant) drove us safely around town, in spite of the weather conditions. I specifically like how Peter is interested in ruins and abandoned buildings (I am too) and knows where to find them. They are getting fewer, sadly. I can only imagine how much cooler it would be with warm weather and in the retro cars. Seems I've to take the tour again some time ;) If you get the chance, take the tour. Period.
Post-Communist Bratislava Tour
Interesting recent history of Bratislava
I'd like to thank our guide Brano for taking me and two others around the post-Socialist parts of Bratislava in his grandfather's old Skoda. It was a two-hour "Post Socialist City Tour" but the tour was so interesting and we enjoyed listening to Brano's tales of living in the city so much that it ran a little over time ... and no one cared. When you have seen enough of the pretty old town and feel like learning about it's more recent history, join one of Authentic Slovakia's tours.

Post Socialist city tour
We took the tour with Yuro and was a educational and interesting. He was fun, spoke very good English, and was very knowledgeable about the area and the history. We enjoyed his Skoda and his honest opinions! Really made the country more interesting!
Post-Communist Bratislava Tour
Post socialist tour
I had a great time in Bratislava overall, but the highlight of my stay was the Post socialist tour with Authentic Slovakia. Together with a nice Dutch couple I spent two hours + in a Skoda from the 1970's with a very knowledgeable and humorous guide (Juro). He really could tie Slovakia's communist past to the present and took us to places we would never have visited on our own. With a bit more time in Bratislava I would also have taken the "Iron curtain" cycle tour. Authentic Slovakia makes ordinary guided tours look hollow and boring. Bjarne, Malmo. Sweden

Iron Curtain Bike Tour: a must-do in Bratislava!
I had booked this bike tour ahead of time with Authentic Slovakia (and BikeBratislava) - Brano was very friendly and helpful. They delivered exactly what they were promising and more! It was an absolutely amazing bike ride along the Danube, crossing the bridge (on a bike path of course), following trails, visiting an actual bunker, getting to the border between Austria and Slovakia, seeing remnants of the communist-era, etc. Our guide, Lubos, was very knowledgeable and took the time to explain everything and answer questions. The tour is about 2.5-3 hours-long and is very easy if you've ever ridden a bicycle before (15 km, all flat except when going on bridges). I highly recommend this tour! I did it with my 3 teenage kids (14-15-17).
Bratislava Iron Curtain Bike Tour

A delicious food adventure
Daniella was wonderful. She knows her way around the town and restaurants and it was wonderful to have different parts of a meal in different locations. We started with an appetizer (charcuterie and duck confit) then walked along the city wall to find the next place to eat chicken soup. We ate in a cellar which was romantic. Then we walked through the city to a micro-brewery that specializes in traditional Slovak food. Apparently lunch is the biggest meal. We had potato dumplings, pork dumplings with sauerkraut, beef with carrot and parsnip purée. This was followed by a number of sweets and wine/liquor tasting. The food and drinks were absolutely wonderful. I definitely recommend doing any type of tour with Daniella.

Wonderful tour in Bratislava
My daughter and I had a chance to learn about and eat local food Bratislava. It was a great experience that we won't forget. Daniela really knows Bratislava, and was really comfortable sharing her knowledge and perspective on this wonderful city. A food tour is an amazing way to add purpose and depth to a city visit. So getting a chance to learn the local foods and visit local places made our day trip in Bratislava so much better. I recommend Daniela as a tour guide any day.
