Normal guy trying to enjoy life. I was living with a younger boyfriend/partner with whom I was happy and our family supported us, until in December 2016 he passed away of lymphoma. I am running my own eshop with flower bulbs, ornamental and fruit shrubs and trees, perenials, grasses as well as an unusual hostel in our greenhouse. In my free time I am working as a tourist guide presenting several tours. My other leisure activities are hiking, riding a bicycle, swimming, walking with dog or meeting and talking to foreign people. In 2013, I started an association called "Vypestuj Dobro" (= Grow Good), which tries to encourage people to share their surplus of garden produce with the families with children in need. I really enjoy working on it.

If you love cheese, this is the perfect tour.
Nothing is worse than being hungry in a country you can't speak the language, which is why this tour is perfect. Erich is a very knowledgeable local guide who shows you around the markets, answers your questions on all things Bratislava and Slovakia, and treats you to local delicacie; from cheeses and meats to local brandies and blackcurrant wine. Perfect opportunity to live like a local and have an authentic meal.
Lunch with the locals.
We met Eric at the local food market. He was very friendly and easy to speak to. He had good English. We walked through the various different food stalls sampling some of the local foods. Eric always explained what it was and how it's prepared. He purchased different cheeses and breads, cabbage and salad bits and bites as we walked around. At the end we sat inside a small bar/cafe where we sampled local wines and a delicious brandy while eating all that we had just bought. Overall it was a lovely relaxing way to sample the local food and drink from Bratislava with a friendly local guide.
Adventurous tour
Thank you Eric. You took us through the market at just the right speed, sharing your own thoughts and your knowledge of the local foods. I loved the fact that you took us to stalls and bought us what the locals eat! We saw the queues but would not have known what to ask for without your guidance. We loved the pickled veg..especially the sweetcorn and my fav was the beetroot. The picnic at the end of the tour warmed us up ( it was cold day). An amazing end to the tour. Thank you.
Definitely recommend this tour
Erich met us at the marked location on time and we had a lovely two hour tour of the central market. It is easy and cheap to get to on public transport. It is definitely off the tourist trail, we were the only ones there with cameras! I would recommend this tour as Erich being a local was able to tell us some of the history of the market and share his insights into local life in Bratislava. His English is very good. The food was local and authentic and there was lots of it. We wouldn't have know where to start with all of the food on offer but Erich explained what we were buying and a bit of the history. We have plenty of time to wander around the market before sitting down together with all of the food Erich had purchased as well as a couple of glasses of wine to share lunch together. Arrive hungry! We had a lovely sunny Saturday lunchtime tour which I would recommend to anyone who likes food and is spending time in Bratislava.
Interesting and delicious Tour
We had e really interesting and delicious tour with Erich. He told us all the interestung details about the local people. He reacted to all of our questions and our tasting wishes. It was a real pleasure.
Great tour
Fascinating food tour around the local market . With the lovely touch of gifts milk fresh that morning that erich brought along.
Very happy and would recommend.
I really enjoyed. I think it would be a good idea for there to be a photo of the main entrance of market/meeting place as we were dropped by the taxi at the market and he insisted it was the main entrance, we were fifteen minutes early but only when it was past the time and we walked down we arrived at the right place, so might avoid late starts.. Also Lucie has a brilliant blog and so think if she included a link to it, with useful Slovak phrases, I certainly wish I had got to read it before my trip. My friend was pregnant (found out after we had booked the tour)so it was difficult to know what a pregnant woman can't eat but I think Lucie was great about it. Really enjoyed the food. The one thing I would say is it would be nice to know what we are covering as I wasn't sure what to expect so just a brief outline in a mail or at the very start of the tour of how the time will be spent, e.g first we are going to see nuts, then cheese, then wine. I loved the certificate at the end, it was a lovely touch.
The tour guide was very nice and well informed and spoke good English :) This is definitely an off the beaten track guided tour in one of the less touristy markets of Bratislava. Do come hungry at the tour!
