Best way to transit between European cities
It was the perfect way to kickstart my trip to Budapest! Wish I had done this for other routes Tour guide: Andrea (HU) Andrea never ran out of interesting trivia and engaging stories from Hungary's history. In my next few days in Budapest, I went on a handful of other tours in the city, and I already knew most of what would be said in the intros to Budapest & Hungary! All thanks to what Andrea had taught us during our Sidetrip tour. The hidden gem in this tour is a small synagogue and memorial in Szentendre that I would never have found if I had just gone by what TripAdvisor or travel blogs said. I truly appreciate that Andrea devoted time to discuss the history of the Jewish in Hungary, and made the effort to ensure that we got our facts straight (e.g. the location of the "Shoes on the Danube" memorial isn't actually where the atrocities being referred to happened). Driver: Tomas (HU) Tomas so kindly brought us to a view point with stunning (and crowd-free) vistas of Esztergom [which we were told not all drivers on this tour do]. He notably did this despite some unexpected traffic on the road. I felt safe the whole time during the drives, plus we made it to Budapest on schedule. Vehicle: icing on the cake :P it's superb It was clean, looked fairly new and well maintained, spacious and comfortable inside, and had seat belts for everyone.

Sweet Tour, worth the money!
What was out of anyone's control: We had bad luck and booked our tour on one of the coldest days of recent history (down to -14° C), so we couldn't take the Skodas - it just too cold. Definitely not our guide's fault. Instead we got to do the tour with a VW Caravan from 92.

Having said that, this tour was amazing and I'd recommend it to everyone! Our guide Peter knew a lot about the city, gave the tour a personal touch with his stories and (for this kind of tour not unimportant) drove us safely around town, in spite of the weather conditions.

I specifically like how Peter is interested in ruins and abandoned buildings (I am too) and knows where to find them. They are getting fewer, sadly.

I can only imagine how much cooler it would be with warm weather and in the retro cars. Seems I've to take the tour again some time ;)

If you get the chance, take the tour. Period.

Great way to see and learn about Bratislava
Erich was a great guide, and the "off the beaten path" tour delivers. He provides details and personal stories which help an outsider grasp some of the intersection of history, politics, religious life, and relationship among Slovakia and neighboring countries. On this tour, we saw details that are not mentioned in my guide books and offers granular detail which helped us get a lived-in sense of how a local experiences this city. Thanks Erich!

If you love cheese, this is the perfect tour.
Nothing is worse than being hungry in a country you can't speak the language, which is why this tour is perfect. Erich is a very knowledgeable local guide who shows you around the markets, answers your questions on all things Bratislava and Slovakia, and treats you to local delicacie; from cheeses and meats to local brandies and blackcurrant wine. Perfect opportunity to live like a local and have an authentic meal.
Bites & Sights Bratislava Food Tour
One of the best tours we have ever done!
It was really a highlight during our stay in Bratislava! We enjoyed every second of this tour, something innovative and informative where one learns about the traditional food and beverages of Slovak people. Erich (the guide) was a great tour guide, sharing all his knowledge about the Slovaks and it shows that he loves doing this job. The price is very cheap compared to other food tours. Highly recommended!

Fantastic alternative view of Bratislava
My husband, 15yr old son and I loved our tour with Juro. We were met in an original 1971 Skoda 100 - such a cool little car. We learnt so much about Bratislava that we would not have known or seen otherwise. Juro kept us entertained the whole trip. We would definitely recommend this tour to everyone.

Fantastic tour with a great guide
Had a lovely afternoon sampling local craft beer. Martina, our guide, was lovely and nothing was too much trouble. Very knowledgable on all things Bratislava and we ended up visiting bars and breweries we would never have know existed.

If you like craft beer, book this tour!

Excellent!!!
We recently went on the City Wine Tour, with the wonderful Daniela as our guide. It was an outstanding afternoon and I cannot recommend it more highly!

Daniela took us on a walk through the city to a hidden gem of a wine bar/cellar, where we tried some of the incredible local sparkling, white, rose and red wines. The sommelier was very knowledgeable and Daniela translated for us into English for each of the wines. Absolutely fascinating to hear about all the local producers stories. All of the wines were good and some were incredible! If we had not been travelling with hand luggage only, I would happily have bought a case of at least 3 of the ones we tried. In addition to the wines there was a plentiful plate of gorgeous local cheeses to enjoy. After we were nicely marinaded, we were taken back to the old town to try the local pastries, fruit wine and honey wines to round the trip off. Our guide was very helpful and gave us lots of local knowledge and tips about what to see and do, and even better, where to eat.
Fantastic, good value trip and a brilliant guide, an absolute must for a weekend in Bratislava.
Bratislava Wine Tasting Tour
Definitely recommend this tour
Erich met us at the marked location on time and we had a lovely two hour tour of the central market. It is easy and cheap to get to on public transport.

It is definitely off the tourist trail, we were the only ones there with cameras! I would recommend this tour as Erich being a local was able to tell us some of the history of the market and share his insights into local life in Bratislava. His English is very good.

The food was local and authentic and there was lots of it. We wouldn't have know where to start with all of the food on offer but Erich explained what we were buying and a bit of the history. We have plenty of time to wander around the market before sitting down together with all of the food Erich had purchased as well as a couple of glasses of wine to share lunch together. Arrive hungry!

We had a lovely sunny Saturday lunchtime tour which I would recommend to anyone who likes food and is spending time in Bratislava.

A Fun Challenge, Worth Your Time!
We were a party of five, with one pre-teen daughter. This was the fourth escape room I have completed in my life, and this proved to be an excellent challenge of the mind. Fairly intricate and involved as far as clues go, it challenged us, and we escaped with an additional five extra minutes. The introduction and greeting from the staff was pleasant, professional, and exciting. After our escape, the thoughtful staff female took time to answer our questions, take pictures of us, and did not rush us out. This was by far the most challenging and difficult room I have done. Very close to Michael's Gate in the Old City of Bratislava, it is easy to access and locate. The next time I come to Bratislava I would definitely like to try the city escape that they offer, which is around a three hour outdoor challenge. Great place! Come on out and try!

Small Carpathian Wine Route
Michael provided a wonderful day of sightseeing along the Small Carpathian Wine Route for our group of six. Based on our list of possible sites, he planned a personalized tour that included a visit to The Red Stone Castle, tastings and tours at two outstanding wineries, a stop in Modra to purchase pottery, and a delightful lunch. A fabulous day!

Michael extended door to door service, picking us up at our holiday villa in Trencianske Teplice. We found him to be very attentive to our needs and an excellent driver, making for a stress free day. Michael even drove us to a Shopping Mall to purchase a man's shaver on our return journey........definitely above and beyond the required services of a tour guide. If you are looking for an easy way to explore western Slovakia, you definitely should contact Michael Pohancenik!

Carpathian Castle Ruins Tour - best day out in Slovakia!
We really wanted to do something to see a bit more of Slovakia and this tour did not disappoint. Our tour guide for the day was Peter who was incredibly knowledgeable and fun. Peter picked us up from the apartments and even on the way to the castles he pointed out numerous sites of interest and gave us tips for where else to to to take in the real Bratislava. The castles and scenery were really beautiful despite it being a foggy day, and Peter even treated us to a drink and some traditional Slovak snacks at a local pub. This was our favourite day of our whole time in Slovakia and was made so by how friendly, knowledgeable and helpful Peter was so we would like to say a big thank you (Ďakujem!) to Peter and Authentic Slovakia, we would definitely do some of the other tours if we went back.

A friend and I signed up for the wine tasting tour and Daniela was our guide. It turned out to be a private tour which was a pleasant surprise and the experience was wonderful! We tried a variety of wines from Slovakia (sparking, white and red) at one location (along with some delicious cheese) and then a blackcurrant wine with local pastries at a second location in the Old Town and honey wine (as well as a bunch of flavored honeys) in an adorable honey shop at a third location. Daniela was very knowledgeable about the wines/vineyard regions and we learned a ton (ask her about Slovakian Christmas traditions, we got a kick out of that one!) - we even got to try Marie Antoinette's mother's favorite wine! 100% recommended, we loved this tasting and had a great time.

O
A delicious food adventure
Daniella was wonderful. She knows her way around the town and restaurants and it was wonderful to have different parts of a meal in different locations. We started with an appetizer (charcuterie and duck confit) then walked along the city wall to find the next place to eat chicken soup. We ate in a cellar which was romantic. Then we walked through the city to a micro-brewery that specializes in traditional Slovak food. Apparently lunch is the biggest meal. We had potato dumplings, pork dumplings with sauerkraut, beef with carrot and parsnip purée. This was followed by a number of sweets and wine/liquor tasting. The food and drinks were absolutely wonderful. I definitely recommend doing any type of tour with Daniella.
