The skeleton of the West Pier is a reminder of our seaside town history. It was built in 1866 but has been closed since 1975, then has long since been burned down so only the husk remains. The West pier can be enjoyed from near or afar. It is a slightly quieter stretch of beach away from the Palace pier. Go for a paddle (or a swim!), take lots of photos and check out the locals who like to skateboard, breakdance or practice their slack-rope routines around the area.
Check out the thousands of Starlings that roost here in the winter- their flying formations are amazing!
