The best part of our Brussels trip
I am so glad I decided to book this tour for me and my best friend, we learnt all the best things about Brussels and so much more about chocolate! Without this tour we would have wondered around naively and fallen into tourist traps whereas we learnt about the best places to eat and shop so we could really get the best out of Brussels
Great fun
Really enjoyed the tour, you get a mixture of chocolate history, education and tasters as well as local tips of places to eat and drink! Our guide was very engaging and we loved the chocolate making! A little pricey but worth it in the end. However more caramel chocolate freebies are needed!
AMAZING
Amazing tour, amazing guide, amazing chocolate
OK tour; Pricey
Our tour began with waiting for another couple just for a few minutes but never showed, so it was just the three of us – our family – and tour guide Mark. The tour was well organized, each chocolatier was ready for our arrival and we had some excellent tastings. The highlight was when we got to meet the young man who assisted us in making our own chocolates. The negatives would be that Mark seemed somewhat distracted, spent a lot of time on his phone in between shops, and really did not engage us a whole lot in conversation. Also, it was seriously overpriced. A few days before, we spent the same amount of money for an all day bus tour to three cities.
I went on the tour guided by Mark (I believe) and it was amazing...literally one of my favorite experiences ever. He was super funny and informative and the bragging rights won by eating so many high quality chocolates makes the memory even better. 5 star rating! Would love to go on one of his beer tours one day!
5 stars.
I had a good time because the group was only 5 people and lasted only a couple of hours. Just right. And delicious waffles.
The tour was utterly fantastic. Belgian chocolate is so good because they use cocoa butter instead of palm oil. It mostly comes from its African colony, the Belgian Congo but the best is made using cacao beans from Ghana and Madagascar. Our walk took us for tastings at 6 of THE most exclusive chocolate boutiques in Brussels – almost all chocolate here is made by hand. The shops we visited were all fabulous and the quality increased from the beginning to the end of the tour. We also passed some important cultural attractions like the Manneken-Pis (small statue of a boy taking a pee – no one seems to know the legend behind it but tourists flock there to take photos) City Gates, the elegant Royal Galleries of St Hubert (the first shopping arcade in Europe built in mid-19th century) and some comic-art wall murals along the way and there was a 1 hour hands-on workshop at the half way point – our creations were beautifully wrapped and presented to us at the end of the walk.
The guide, Avo, was fantastic. His knowledge of the city and his knowledge of chocolate and its history could not be beat. I appreciated hearing what a true Chocolatier is and hearing that there are mainstream companies in Brussels that have not tried to improve upon their chocolate over the years. I was only in Brussels for the day and wouldn't have been able to see and know everything Avo showed us on my own. The chocolate tasting exceeded my expectations and the workshop was very fun. I highly recommend the Global Enterprises chocolate workshop and tasting tour.
