hello guys,
i am coming with a friend in two weeks. its the first time we travel in Bucharest. where is the best place to book an accommodation? near the old town or somewhere else? what do you think about the hostels? (cleanliness ets.) we are coming for 5 days. what do you recommend to do, see go and eat? is there any public transport? we think we should go to Transylvania and to Carpathian. is it far from Bucharest ?
Thanks in advance:)

Hi, Styliana. There are many places where u could stay for good prices. Hostels and hotels, as well. You could try booking.com and if you have questions about particular hostels/hotels, you could ask here. In terms of location, it depends what u would like to do. City centre is not necessary the best place to stay or spend time. Bucharest is pretty crowded. But if you want to feel the pulse of the city, I guess thats the spot. Public transportation is quite ok. You have both metro (which ia the fastest way to get somewhere), busses and trams. If you want to spend less money when u travel from the airport to the city, you can take an express bus, which is really cheap and travels every half hour. Many places to eat and have a drink around city center but not only. I would suggest you to explore the city more.
In regards to other cities to go, I recommend Brasov and Sibiu. Great places for a few walks. You can visit them in one day each. You can get there in 3 hours from Bucharest. On the way, you can visit Peles castle in Sinaia (between Buc and Brasov). In Brasov you can visit the city and then go to Bran. Hope this helps. Have a safe trip!

thank you Ana:)
Hello,
I would recommend staying near the Old District (Lipscani)

A very convenient place is:
http://www.antiquehostel.ro/

I have stayed there and although it is an old building, it is clean and the staff are very friendly and helpful.

There is excellent public transportation very close, buses and Metro @ Uniri

Sibiu is a beautiful city in Transilvania and is not far. 300 kms and about 4 hours drive. ( 5 by bus)

The closest mountains are again about 3 hours away.
Brasov is well worth a visit and has excellent train service to it.

Romania is a beautiful country. I hope you enjoy your visit!
