Duration 13 hours
Private tour available in English
Group tour pricing from 240 EUR per person
I had a day to explore the Carpathian mountains, but wanted to also see a bit of culture, history, and avoid the crowds. Within 24 hours, Dan had customized a tour for my needs, visiting Bran in the morning and hiking to the ridge of the Piatra Craiului mountains in the afternoon. Mix in an excellent lunch and ample photo opportunities, the tour could not have been planned or executed any better.

Highlights

Visit Romania’s legendary Bran Castle

Admire the picturesque Transylvanian countryside

Hike to Curmătura hut in the heart of the Piatra Craiului Mountains

Description

Bran Castle needs little introduction. Also known as Dracula’s Castle because of the similarity between Bram Stoker’s bloodthirsty vampire and Vlad the Impaler (one of Romania's cruellest rulers who spent several months at Bran), it was initially built as a fortress and, centuries later, became Queen Mary's favourite residence.

After exploring Bran Castle, we’ll enjoy the magic of Piatra Craiului National Park. Our journey will continue with a moderate hike through Zarnesti Gorge and then to Curmătura hut (1470 metres), in the heart of the Piatra Craiului Mountains. Get ready for some beautiful views with meadows, forests, and stunning mountain views.
We'll stop for a quick lunch break at Curmatura and then we will hike back to the car on a different trail.

We’ll return to Bucharest later in the evening.

Our last day in Romania is the trip to Bran castle, Pestera valley and an easy hike to Piatra Craiului. Dan was flexible enough to accomodate our request and arrange our tour with his staff Adrian and Bogdan our guide. Although it was a rainy day, Our guide made sure we would enjoy the trip and made some planning options along the way in case the weather got worse. At the end of the day we stayed with the original plan, its only unfortunate that we were not able to reach the camp at the Piatra Craiului due to the weather - Still an enjoyable day, hearing the history of Romania from Bogdan and enjoying the view around Pestera. Romania is definelty a wonderful country to visit! And I highly recommend Dan and his team for a great experience of the Romanian outdoors.
