The tour gave me great insight into the city of Bucharest during a very short stay. Bucharest is quite a unique place with some rough edges but a very interesting and beautiful city in some parts. This tour gives you a very good introduction to further explorations.

Description

Your professional English-speaking guide will meet you at your hotel and introduce you to the history of Bucharest.

The tour begins with a visit to the Palace of the Parliament, which currently houses the Romanian Parliament. It’s the largest building in Europe and the second largest in the world. After enjoying a full tour of the enormous marble halls, we’ll admire a magnificent view of the city from the Parliament’s rooftop terrace. Lunch will then be served in a 200-year-old traditional Romanian restaurant.

During the second half of the day we’ll explore the Old Town of Bucharest – an area brimming with life and history. Our final stop will be the Village Museum, which showcases the traditional architectural styles of Romanian villages through the ages.

If you are in Bucharest and you’d like to have a quick overview of the city, I would recommend taking this tour, but don’t forget your passport. You’ll need it to visit the House of People, house of Ceausescu. It was quite unique to see this impressive architecture built upon a church, a hospital, a few other institutions and dozens of workshops and factories. It is certainly breathtaking how such a monster could be built in the 1980s.
Very good tour!
Our guide gave us a very interesting tour of the city, with a lot of historical facts thrown in. His knowledge of the city and of the history that has shaped it was quite extensive. On top of that, he was polite and accommodating. Highly recommended.
