In the morning we’ll begin our journey towards the Făgăraș Mountains – some of the biggest and most beautiful mountains in Romania – also known as the Transylvanian Alps.
Our first stop will be in a town called Curtea de Argeș at the bottom of the Făgăraș Mountains, where we’ll visit one of the most remarkable monasteries in Romania.
Our next stop will be at the foot of the Poenari Citadel – a stronghold that became famous thanks to the Dracula legend.
Afterwards, we’ll reach Romania’s most beautiful and second-highest road, the Transfăgărășan. It was named the best road in the world by Top Gear’s Jeremy Clarkson. We’ll have 1.5 hours to enjoy the road’s magnificence at its highest point by Bâlea Lake (2034 metres). Possibilities include:
- A cable-car ride between Bâlea Lake and Bâlea Waterfall
- A picnic lunch
- Lunch in one of the chalets
- A refreshing hike
With our batteries fully charged, we’ll drive back to Bucharest and drop you off at your hotel.
