Visiting Budapest and really love to find the old type embroidered, stitch work designs onto ladies wear, tops, shirts dresses and Kaftans. All the shops I`m seeing are looking more trendy minimalistic, androgonous styling. Think peasant tops etc anyone know where best to find?
thanks a mill

hello,
As far as i understand you just need the motifs/designs not emroidered garments or pillows.
If so, check these links, might be useful: mihttp://qtp.hu/xszemes/regi_keresztszemes_mintak.php , scroll down the page, you can enlarge the pictures

http://www.magyarvagyok.hu/kultura/hungarikum/folklor/kezmuvesseg/3295-Magyar-motivumok-gyujtemenye.html , also scroll down the page, there will be patterns

or you can just google MAGYAR HIMZÉS MOTIVUMOK and check the picture hits, from there you can also find some new links to sites about hungarian embroideries

Dear EVA,
Thanks and very nice of your reply. This is the the of gorgeous motitif Embroidery that I love yes BUT I am looking to actual BUY & PURCHASE actual GARMENTS that have this technique on. So I am looking for shops that sell ladies items: Skirts, dresses, tops & Kaftans. Do you know of any such shops that sell these things ? I have researched 2 ladies that employ the older ladies to make this tradition Mayto, their names Rozi & Borbala vaczi but I can't see where I can find the garments. Thank you very much for hopefully some positive new advise. kind regards Emma

Hello Emma,
understood. what first came to my mind is a good webshop where both designers and handmade/handcrafted items made by good hobby amateurs are selling. The link I send is the "magyar motivumok" menu, meaning stuff with Hungarian motives, embroideries. Unfortunatelly there is no english version.
http://www.meska.hu/Termekek/Kategoria:Magyarmotivumokkal/legujabb/1?q=b3JkZXJuYW1lPWxlZ3VqYWJiJmNhdF9pZD01NzI=&lsrc=lm

try to browse there, if you like something, click on the shop name (picture, under it the item name, under it the shop name), and there will be the shop's full selection. If you find 2-3 nice ones with good selection I will try to help you with the first steps to get in contact with them. ( Hungarians are not famous about speaking foreign languages
:((( )

to find Rozi Vaczi was easy-peasy:
http://matyodesign.hu/en/ and even with english version :))

but i still suggest to browse the above meska.hu ,I think there you can find still nice quality at better prices.

cheers,
Eva
