Claudia took us on a three-hour Jewish heritage tour in Buenos Aires. Not only that she was a very pleasant and sympathetic person, she was extremely knowledgeable and systematic in her way of running the tour. We learned a lot - also with regards to general history of Argentina and would definitely count this tour to the highlights of our BA stay. The only thing we regretted was that since it was our last day in BA we could not book Claudia for further tours (since we then found out she also offers coty and art tours). We will make sure we do it when back in BA one day.

Highlights

Awe-inspiring synagogues and stories related to the temples

Tour dedicated to Jewish heritage and community in Argentina

Description

This private tour is focused on the history of the Argentinian-Jewish community, right from where it started, when the first immigrants arrived in the 19th century up to nowadays. During the tour, you will learn about the history of the first colonies in Argentina, along with the formation of the first Jewish community in Buenos Aires.

Later, you will also learn about the Jewish community’s situation in Buenos Aires and Argentina, along with its political, economic and socio-cultural standing. You will hear from your knowledgeable guide about the great changes suffered since the last crisis of the bombings of the Israeli Embassy. You will visit the most emblematic places for the Jewish community in Buenos Aires including the AMIA (Asociacion Mutual Israelita Argentina).

You can add a visit to Templo Libertad (Libertad Synagogue), the Jewish Museum of Buenos Aires or the Holocaust Museum of Buenos Aires (at an additional cost) to learn about their emergence as a consequence of the bombings and their ties with the State of Israel.

We thought it was really good.
Claudia gave us a lot of information, new a lot about the general history of the city, and was able to share her own experience of being Jewish in the city. Good tour!
