I was quite beside myself when I discovered my first 'Verduleria' in Buenos Aires. They're basically fruit & veg shops and way cheaper than buying veg or fruit in the supermarket. They're worth seeking out, especially if you have your own cooking space and want to cook one night instead of going out again for another steak.
If you're keen to save some money when in the city then these shops are a God-send. There is one right on the corner of Thames y Gorriti (in Palermo) that is a personal fav; you can pick out all the fruit & veg yourself as opposed to the pressure of having to ask someone to do it for you (although this is good practice of your Spanish).
It might be helpful to brush up on your Spanish food vocabulary when visiting a verduleria.
