Gamcheon Culture Village started as an indigent place for refugees in the 1950s and retains the history of Busan to the present. The terraced collective housing types lined up along the foot of the mountain and the maze-like alleyway through which all roads pass show the uniqueness of Gamcheon Bay.Although it was an underdeveloped hill town in Busan, it has now become a representative tourist attraction visited by millions of domestic and foreign tourists annually as it promoted urban regeneration projects with culture and arts. It is called Machu Picchu and Santorini in Korea because of its beautiful pastel-toned houses and maze-like alleys along the hillside. Tourists can enjoy picturesque scenery of the village harmonized with beautiful nature, enjoy various types of works installed in alleys, and experience various crafts through workshops of artists living in Gamcheon Culture Village.
