One of the few medieval buildings in Cagliari that has outlived generations over generations completely intact, the tower is still nowadays a predominant element in the city's skyline. Designed to be a watchtower, it has also been a supplies storage and an infamous prison. It is the highest point of the city.

3 euros (2 for students) is a reasonable price for one of the oldest buildings in town. The old northern gate of the city hides traces of its past: large white marble slabs, loopholes and old iron shutters. A long wooden staircase leads to the roof at 36 meters above the hill overlooking the gulf. My personal favourite scenic viewpoint!
If you're not a fan of heights, the staircase might look worringly too close to the edge - bear that in mind!
