Poppy Plaza

Why locals love it

The public art and memorials in this area along the riverbank are a modern and touching tribute to war veterans and first responders who died in the line of duty. The weathering steel walls inscribed with quotes and giant word sculptures give the space an industrial look, and there is lots of seating for taking a few moments of contemplation.

Why you should visit it

The Plaza and surrounding river pathways provide nice views of the river and across to downtown. It's also a good spot for people watching, since the pathways are well-used by cyclists, joggers and walkers. In the evening, strategically placed lighting adds to the ambiance.

Special tip

Walk a few minutes east along the pedestrian pathway and you'll find the strking Peace Bridge designed by Santiago Calatrava.
