Why locals love it

This self-guided walking tour showcases 15 sculptures and murals located in and around Stampede Park. It’s a colourful way to learn about the city’s western heritage and the history of the “Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth”. Look for the brochure at the airport information kiosk or download it here:

Why you should visit it

Many visitors know about the Calgary Stampede, an annual 10-day rodeo and exhibition, but few know about the organization’s long tradition of commissioning public art. “By the Banks of the Bow” is one of the largest public art pieces in North America, with 15 larger-than-life-sized horses and two cowboys, all in various stages of a river crossing.

Special tip

Many of the sculptures are "interactive" – you're welcome to touch and crawl all over them.
