Why locals love it

Sat in the heart of Cardiff's beautiful city centre, this extraordinary building holds within it millions of years of history: much of which is focused around the evolution of Wales.

The museum is a symbol of pride for the locals, paying homage to the country's thriving history and the many notable Welsh artists and their mesmerising work.

Why you should visit it

The museum and gallery is bursting with exciting permanent collections and major touring exhibitions. Marvel at dinosaur skeletons, the great Woolly mammoth, the world's largest Leatherback turtle and a jaw-dropping Humpback whale skeleton before exploring the 500 years worth of paintings, sculptures, silver and ceramics from Wales and the world!

Special tip

Situated on a street of stunning architecture, it faces a small but beautiful park. Take the time to meander through the different sights nearby!

So much to explore! I am more into nature while my friend is into art. So we both went into separate sections where we spent more than two hours and still did not manage to see all of it. I really liked the natural history part, the information was very clear and interesting and it did not feel old and worn out as in many other museums. Apparently the art section was very impressive as well.
