This is the ancentral home of the most prominent Greek politician. The house was built in 19th century and bears Venizelos' personal stamp. All the spaces have retained their original form. The visitors feel that they are travelling in the past of Crete.

The museum is housed in a church of a 16th-century Frangiscan monastery. The exhibition is divided into two large units: the eastern wing displays findings from the Neolithic to late Minoan period, and the western wing, findings from the Geometric period to Roman times.

Firka Fortress

The fortress Revellino del Porto on the northwest side of the port of Chania was constructed between 1610 and 1645 to protect the Venetian harbour entrance from raiders. It is the place where the Greek flag was raised, in 1913, the year of the reunion of Crete with Greece. Today, at the entrance of the Fortress is situated the Maritime Museum.
