A tour to the Magic of Nature and learn cooking Mousaka

Start with a walk at the unique landscape St. John’s Platanakia area, under the plane trees and along the river Kyliaris. And then continue with learning how to make the traditional Mousaka dish. At Manolia’s home we will cook this delicious dish, ending with a gorgeous lunch.

We enjoyed the walk in the country side. saw some nice country site off the regular tourist path. very friendly family opened there home to us for the cooking class. A lot of very good food and lots of laughs. Technology was helpful with communication. Nice Memories where made.

Description

The church of Saint John the Forerunner is located just outside the village of Stylos, close to Kalyves. It is a tiny church built in 1898 and celebrating on August 29 (a big festival takes place then). Around the church there are many old plane trees which offer shade to visitors and there are wooden benches and tables making the place ideal for picnics. It is a unique landscape, ideal for relaxation
Next to the church there is one of the springs of river Kyliaris surrounded by orange, lemon and avocado gardens. From the chapel we can follow the path along the river through lush vegetation and amazing view of the White Mountains.
Afterwards, at Manolia’s home at Kalyves, we will prepare to dwelve in to Cretan cuisine through a hands-on experience by cooking the traditional Mousaka dish.
Finally, we will enjoy a complete lunch altogether with a Greek family.
