Hi Jack,
One of the most famous Chicago comedy clubs is Second City, located in the Old Town neighborhood (North Avenue/Clark). That would be the most memorable comedy place to check out in Chicago, in my opinion. The Second City is famous for cultivating comedians who became very famous through Saturday Night Life. Hope you enjoy the experience!!

Everyone is saying Second City, which is solid. Another good option is the Laugh Factory. Both are a good uber ride away from where you are staying but either will make you laugh!

Best improv is called Second City. For stand up acts change daily place called Zanies. Both in Old Town about a mile and a half north of your hotel. Easy cab or Uber. Plenty of places to eat and drink on Wells street in that neighborhood.

There is nothing like Second City in “old town”
So many of the greats started here
Look at the list on Saturday Nite Live
This at least one of the “musts” when you visit this great city.

Hi Jack,

I'd recommend either Zanies or Second City in the Old Town neighborhood...a short Uber or taxi ride from your hotel.

Around the corner is a good spot to stop before/after: Old Town Ale House

I agree with everything everyone already mentioned, but would also throw in some of the local sketch comedy venues/troops. Phrenzy, Barrel of Monkeys (I love their show, "that's weird grandma"), Neo Futurists, Annoyance Theater (comedy shows and burlesque). Most of these, however, are outside of the loop in various Chicago neighborhoods (Lakeview, Edgewater, Wrigleyville). Phrenzy does shows all over the city. Also, I would recommend checking out the app or website Goldstar. You can find discount tickets for many of the shows/theaters around Chicago. Have Fun!

Didn't mean to post this twice. I got an error with the first one, but I guess it posted anyway! :)
Agree with all the suggestions already given. Second city is a classic, iconic and would something to experience. iO and Up are all great options as well for sketch type comedy. Laugh Factory and Zanies are good for stand-up comedy. All pretty close to where you're staying. If you want to experience something a little more local, lesser known, there are many independent comedy troops around the area. A little outside of downtown though. Annoyance Theater does some shows, and comedy burlesque (https://theannoyance.com ) Neo Futurists Theater - they have a few different shows (https://neofuturists.org/calendar/) The comedy troop Barrel of Monkeys does a show called "That's Weird Grandma" that I highly recommend. Same theater as New Futurists (https://www.barrelofmonkeys.org/shows). There is group called Phrenzy. They perform at various venues around the city. I've seen a few of their shows and they've all been pretty good. Just goolgle Phrenzy Comedy Chicago to see which shows are playing where or use the Goldstar app or website for discount tickets. There are many, many more - just depends on what you're into. A lot of bars also host comedy nights, but they vary. Metromix Chicago or Goldstar can help you find those as well. Have fun!

Make your way to old town and go to iconic second city. Buy tickets a head of time. It’s worth the Uber Ride there.

the IO THeater has it all, where youngsters cut their teeth in improv teams. Tickets are cheap, cheap, cheap and its a very local experience, less touristy than Second City.

Zanies Comedy Club in old town is a good bet. 1548 N Wells street, just south of North and Wells. Also Second City is half a block north at North and Wells. Both are excellent choices.
