I had a layover in Chisinau and I decided to have a short city center overview tour by car instead of being stuck in the airport premises. The guide/driver Gorita Veaceslav met me at the airport (extra 15 euro both ways) and took my hand luggage to his car. He was welcome and told me about the country/city and people. It was very interesting to listen to him. It was a combined riding/walking tour and despite freaking cold weather on that day, we did out best to walk and see. I do recommend this tour company as reliable and this tour in particular for those short in time or with long layover in the airport. You will be pleased to spend 3-4 hours with Veaceslav showing you his home city.

Description

Moldova’s capital most beautiful parks, Soviet-era architecture, monuments of imperial architecture of Bessarabia and several notable churches.

Founded 583 years ago the city was mainly developed in Russian Imperial times, when Moldova was under the Russian Empire starting from 1812 to 1918 when it became a part of the Great Romania till 1940 and then part of the Soviet Union. All the major historic sites were constructed in the 19th century (all of them from the local white limestone creating an image of the city as "A Stone Flower") reflecting the period of history known as Imperial. An excellent tour of Chisinau with a friendly and hospitable guide
We had a wonderful walking and driving tour around Chisinau with Veaceslav, whose warm personality more than made up for the freezing weather and snow. We took in the main square, a beautiful park, passed by several important religious sites and Veaceslav was very helpful in giving us tips for the rest of the day in the city. We spent the afternoon in the historical museum and then the modern art gallery. Veaceslav was so helpful, professional and friendly that we were able to book two more tours with him for the following days, which were also amazing, spectacular and infused with the same sense of pride and knowledge about his home country. Highly recommended!
Superb introduction to the city
As a history buff, I thoroughly enjoyed Veaceslav's comprehensive yet relaxed tour. The city (and country) has a fascinating but complex modern history, and my understanding was greatly enhanced by Veaceslav's local expertise. Being a private tour, I especially enjoyed the many opportunities to ask questions and engage in conversation about living in Chisinau.
