Explore Transnistria - the country that doesn't exist!

You should come to Transnistria especially if you’re from a country that was never a part of the Soviet Bloc or controlled by it. It’ll help you understand what the daily reality was like for millions of people. You’ll visit practically almost fully conserved ‘museum’ of Soviet times.

Private tour available in English, Russian

Perhaps the title is a spoiler for most foreign travellers who plan to visit Transistria but locals prefer to call their land like that. No matter what the name it's definitely a place worth visiting which drives you back to the soviet eras but not only that. I won't say anything more about the trip, I will leave the rest to Veaceslav, the cool and friendly tour guide, who will provide you with lots of historical details and of course anything you need to know about the destination. So, if you ever happen to find yourselves in Moldova don't skip this trip to Transistria. It will be something to remember.

Description

The trip to Transnistria starts with the transfer from your accommodation in Chisinau to Tiraspol by a private vehicle. Visiting Transnistria is like traveling on a time machine – not much has changed there since the end of the 20th century. The cities of Bender and Tiraspol, keep many soviet monuments, with a specific architecture.

Old-fashioned public transport, a lot of monuments to Lenin and Soviet symbolism on the buildings, all make a tour to Transnistria a different experience. Your local guide will tell you about the current political situation of the country and show you all the most important attractions of Tiraspol, as the capital of the unrecognized country.

Then you will travel to the city of Bender and discover its famous sight, Fortress of Tighina, built in the 16th century. Medieval Bender Fortress played a significant role in the Russian-Turkish War in the 18-19th centuries. You will enjoy a spectacular view of the Dniester River from the high fortress’s walls. Later, in your free time, you may have lunch at one of the city’s cafes.

Amazing tour!!
We booked a tour to Transnistria and Milesti Micii winery, and it all went great! The tour itself is amazing, and Veaceslav gave us the best interaction and information we could’ve asked for, driving us safely in a very comfortable car.
