We've just arrived in cluj and have no idea what we should do. Any suggestions of places to eat, sights to see things to do etc? :)

Hello!
I'm not here since so much time too but some nice places to see to my mind are the belvedere (parcu cetatuia) where you can have a view point on the whole city. What is also nice to see are the central park, the old center which is quite small but really nice with plenty of churches, and also having a walk following the river (there is a place which is a bit away from the center that you can find following the river on the opposite side of the arena, it looks like a little beach!). Finally the best place to my mind is the botanical garden! You have also plenty of things to do here, we have the movie festival (TIFF) until tomorrow so you can check online if something interest you, we have also a lot of clubs and bars, in Hasdeu district and in the center also.
Finally, about the food, there is a nice fancy restaurant in the central parc with a nice view on the lake, for traditionnal romanian food you can go to Roata, and I've also heard about a restaurant I haven't had the chance to try yet which is called Samsara Foodhouse (they also have a nice tea house) and is pretty good!
Hope it will help you, have a nice stay :)

Check out: Baracca for food,
Roots for coffee and breakfast and Let's coffee for a hipsterish, but great speciality coffee. For a great wine bar, see SAX with friends, listed in a Bored Panda top as one of the 7 best speakeasy bars in the world.
Good food also at Indigo, an indian cuisine place. Hope this helps and you'll have a great vacation here!

Joben is a really cool place to eat or have a drink. It's really nicely decorated in a steampunk style. Also, Fabrica de bere (which literally means the beer factory) is a nice place for food and drinks. It used to be a beer factory that was redecorated into a restaurant. If you have time you could go to Salina Turda. It's an old salt mine about 30 km away from Cluj that was transformed into a small underground amusement park.

The Transilvania International Film Festival is quite a big thing in Cluj. And it's still on for a few more days. So you could definitely check out one of the movies or the events that are happening around the film festival. There are many locations for the movies and plenty to choose from.
You can check out details here: http://tiff.ro/en

Hi,

You can also try the Roata restaurant for romanian food.

As for things to do, you've arrived during the Transylvania International Film Festival, which also screens open air films in the Unirii square, besides in all cinemas.

For a city overview i would recomend the city hill called Cetatuia or the city central park to get the vibe of the city.
To eat there are a lot of places very good with great varaity. I would recomand near the city center Livada for more general dishes, Mura for steak and burgers and Zama for traditional food and cosy feeling.

Hope this helps! :)
