Description
The trip starts from Cluj, and in our first day, we will be heading to Breb, a 300-year old village. Here you will enjoy a traditional lunch and spend the night in a traditional hotel.
The people of Maramures are very welcoming, and you will discover this through the talks that you will have with the local while enjoying some local foods and drinks (palinka included).
Our trip will then continue with a visit to what is perhaps the happiest cemetery in the world. The Merry Cemetery of Sapanta is filled with lively-colored tombstones and funny poems and it stands as proof that everything can be funny - even a cemetery.
We will then visit the wooden churches of Maramures, some of which are included in the UNESCO World Heritage Sites, and better understand the spiritual side of Maramures.
Our journey will take us through villages where we will meet local craftsmen and admire their works, such as wood-carved gates.
Last but not least, we will visit the virgin forest of Strambu-Baiut, which houses over 10.000 species of plants and animals.
