Am going to imagine from one morning to next day evening. So get a taxi from the airport and go directly to Galle, yes you heard me, Galle! not colombo. Its 120km away from colombo. or one and a half hours. Go to galle, take Brunch at Galle Fort. walk inside the fort, walk on the ramparts and just soak up the beautiful atmosphere. Afternoon head over to the nearest beach, Unawatuna(6km). Put a sea swim, go snorkling in Jungle beach, Roomassala. Climb and see the Roomassala Peace Pagoda at sunset, its just beautiful. Stay the night at Unawatuna at one of the many beach resorts, have good seafood.
Next day, Go back to Colombo and directly to Odel Mall. Do your bit of shopping and they have a good food court as well. But you might as well try Upalis sri lankan restaurant around 1km away from Odel for a good Sri Lankan meal.Afternoon go to the Gangaramaya Buddhist temple again in that same area and see a bit of culture. Evening go to Ozo, a 4 start hotel in Colombo 4 on the marine drive. Go up to their 14th floor and watch an amazing sunset again whilst having a lion larger beer and a deep fried cuttlefish in hot butter sauce(you got to try this!) . go back on the highway to the airport in the night.

Trust me, i know what i am talking about. have fun!
