A true hidden gem in
Why locals love it
The Cisterns (in English) is an unusual place with a great concept. It's actually a glass museum but hardly spotting at the grassy lawns of Søndermarken. That's because it's hidden away underground, in three huge water cisterns originally built for Copenhagen water supplies in 1856-59 as part of the modern water supply system.
Why you should visit it
This is a different experience and worth a visit. You will walk aroud the Cisterns (old water resoire) in the darkness. Mirrors and lights from a lanterns will guide the way, but your eyes have to get used to the dark a few minutes. Please also pay attention of the opening hours from season to season.
You can ask for a lantern when you pay for the entrance to make it more dramatic underground.
