Den Blå Planet

Why locals love it

Besides being an ideal place to entertain inquisitive kids for a couple of hours, Copenhagen’s new seaside aquarium is, architecturally speaking, pretty damn cool. This futuristic whirlpool-shaped structure houses 53 tanks and installations full of colourful, cute, scary and strange water creatures from all around the globe.

Why you should visit it

If you’re looking for child-friendly entertainment that’s equally as enjoyable for adults, a trip to Den Blå Planet (The Blue Planet) is a no-brainer. While it’s neither the biggest nor the most comprehensive aquarium in the world, it deserves credit for its clever design, energetic staff and interactive exhibits.

Special tip

The aquarium is located close to Amager beach, so bring your bathers and make a day of it (only during the warmer months, of course)!
