Architectural gem & local swimming spot

Kastrup Søbad

Why locals love it

Towards the airport end of Amager beach there’s a long wooden pier that stretches out into the sea to meet a curious shell-shaped structure. Besides offering swimmers wind protection and easy access to deeper waters, it’s a picturesque place to relax and catch some rays. It even has a couple of diving boards and built-in chairs and tables.

Why you should visit it

Whether you’re an architecture nut or are simply looking for a fun seaside hangout, this clever construction is worth checking out. It’s a scenic half-hour cycle from the city centre and is easily reachable by metro. If you stop by during the colder months, you’ll probably see a few brave locals skinny-dipping (it’s a Scandinavian thing).

Special tip

Opening hours change according to the season, but you can admire the structure from the beach or pier any time you please. Metro stop: Femøren.
