Catch some rays with the locals

Ørstedsparken

Why locals love it

Once a part of a fortification that protected Copenhagen from the Swedes, this beautiful inner-city park is now a popular summer hangout for both- the locals and the passer-bys.

Why you should visit it

Get your best blanket, grab a sandwich in 'Pisserenden' and bring a fair-haired Danish boy or girl to the park to catch some of the rare Copenhagen summer sunrays on the steep slopes above the lake. There is also a café to be found on the north end.

Special tip

Curious about the hedonistic side of the romantic park? Stay there after dark: it is known to be a meet up spot for gays seeking casual encounters.
