Why locals love it

Denmark's national gallery houses and maintains a massive collection of art from the 14th century to date, so although you'll never manage to see all 9,000 sculptures and paintings, it's a great place to rejuvenate the brain cells you may have damaged the night before.

Why you should visit it

The building is an architectural collision of old and new, with a recent glass and steel addition blending beautifully with the original classical pile. From Rubens and Rembrandt to Munch and Matisse, this place has works from many of the heavyweights of the art world.

Special tip

After your visit, relax in the beautiful Østre Anlæg park at the back of the museum.
