The food tour was great! I was a bit apprehensive at first but in all honesty, you'll be well fed by the end of it. Cindie, our guide, was friendly and informative and went above and beyond to make sure we really appreciated the food of Copenhagen. Taking us to some great locations (both traditional and modern) and offering us some great advice about where to go in the evenings (we had the best time eating at the place she recommended). You can really feel that she's really passionate about food and that she wants to pass that onto you. I really enjoyed my time and would definitely go on another food tour with her again.

Description

Your local foodie host will lead you through Copenhagen’s maze of alleyways to 7–8 different eateries. We put a lot of research into our tours so that you can explore both traditional Danish food and the city’s modern food scene.

The tour begins in the city centre and continues towards the Nørrebro district, where you’ll discover some of Copenhagen’s most interesting streets and neighbourhoods.

You’ll taste traditional open-faced sandwiches (smørrebrød) in one of Copenhagen’s oldest lunch restaurants, Danish cheeses, Danish liquor, schnapps, a Danish pastry, porridge (like you’ve never tasted before), Danish beers and Danish cream puffs (flødeboller).

You’ll also visit one of the newest restaurants run by a Michelin-starred chef as well as a very special cemetery where you’ll taste Danish apple wine and handmade caramels and liquorice from the island of Bornholm.

The tastings add up to a hearty meal, so we recommend you come hungry!

The walking distance is approximately 5 kilometres.

The Danish Delicacy Tour hits the spot - thoughtfully introducing history, local food appreciation and modern Danish lifestyle. We had a delightful guide, Soeren, a very informed foodie introducing us to the hidden treasures of the city, lots of passionate foodmakers, and to what the Danes call 'hygge'. To set the atmosphere for the tour, we were first taken to a historical and very cozy restaurant. Feeling like the start of a very intimate dinner party, we were introduced to other members of the tour and spoke of how we prepared and related to food. This set off a very charming vibe, for everyone to enjoy life's pleasures with family and new friends. We sampled traditional Danish smørrebrød, with plenty for seconds and even thirds! I could ramble a long list of places we saw and ate at (approximately 10), but I wouldn't want to ruin too many of the surprises ahead. Some of our highlights include the Torvehallerne food market, bike ride across the bridge into the cool Nørrebro neighborhood which sprout all the latest Danish food trends, a visit to Hans Christian Andersen's grave in the beautiful Assistens Cemetery (apparently a summer hotspot for sunbathers!), and a sampling of likely the best hot dogs in the world! Food tours are one of the best ways to get to know a city - and this one sets the bar high. Highly recommended!
I had such a lovely morning on the Danish food tour... Cindie was a brilliant guide and obviously passionate about food. I also got to know more about the history of Copenhagen on the way. I've been living in Copenhagen for 18 months now and was surprised by how many new places she showed us. The restaurants and food was off the beaten track and not the kind of thing you will find in a travel guide. The places had soul, history and passionate people making amazing food. Be warned though - there is a lot of food, so be hungry!
