Description

Gaze down one of King Christian V’s most recognised masterpieces, Nyhavn, out into the lively waters of Copenhagen’s harbour. From afar, seeming to rise out of the sea, you spot a newly built residential complex. Hiding behind it are colourfully painted, crooked houses with slanting roofs. We skip across the “Kissing Bridge” that connects the two sides of the harbour to have a closer look (don’t forget to mind the bikes zooming by!). We’ve now arrived in a new district. Let our Cultural Christianshavn Walk begin!

Here in Christianshavn, fascinating history is met by visual arts, alternative lifestyle (well, only in one area… can you guess which?) and popular boardwalk hangouts. Interested in more? Okay, we’ll indulge you! A woman’s prison, Michelin star restaurants, a military base and maritime history; the mix of the old and the new, artistic and avant-garde, together makes for a vibrantly cultural district of Copenhagen.
Walking along the idyllic canals of Christianshavn, you hear the water rippling against the boats lining the narrow waterways. You’ve reached the gates to the Freetown of Christiania. Before we let you go inside to explore on your own, we’ll end our Tour.
