We took our first trip to Denmark recently and stayed in Copenhagen for about a week. Before leaving we found the Hygge and Happiness tour that looked like a lot of fun and a good way to learn about the culture and how people really live in Copenhagen.

Our guide to all things Hygge was Sandra. What an amazing person! Full of energy and enthusiasm and you could tell she truly cares about helping others to understand what an amazing place Copenhagen is.

The tour was wonderful as well. It takes you through some big tourist locations, but many many more smaller locations that you likewise wouldn’t find on your own. Even at the more touristy locations, Sandra provided a wealth of knowledge and much better history than you would likely find on your own. The tour also includes two pretty wonderful stops at a bakery and finally a kaffe shop. The food is amazing and the lattes are wonderful.

I highly recommend this tour (and Sandra!). If you want to learn about what makes Copenhagen such a happy place and find some of the hidden gems of the city, you should absolutely take this tour!

Description

The tour begins at Nyboder – the first public-housing project in the world, dating back to the 17th century. After strolling through the King’s Garden, we’ll continue our hunt for hygge in some of Copenhagen’s oldest streets. Pausing at the Stork Fountain just off Strøget, we’ll chat about the anti-establishment cultures the city has hosted over the years. Next up, we’ll stop at a local café and relax with a cup of coffee and a slice of cake – a great example of hygge culture.

From there, we’ll pass by the castles that house the government offices and the parliament, and talk about both the formal and informal ways that Denmark is governed. You’ll get to see the lovely, hidden library garden that Copenhageners visit when they need a quiet moment in the middle of the city. We’ll also pass by the impressive Royal Library before taking the harbour bus to Islands Brygge – an industrial area that has been transformed into a highly liveable urban neighbourhood. On our way there, we’ll chat about Denmark’s green-living initiatives.

Such a wonderful peek into what makes Copenhagen so wonderful

A must in Copenhagen
We were so happy that we booked this tour. Søren, our tour guide, was fantastic! He was so knowledgeable and attentive to all our needs. My 85 year old mother had a great time and was able to keep up with the tour (fortunately, she's in great shape). Søren made sure that we had plenty of opportunities to duck into a little hyggefied cafe to sip on some delicious coffee and eat some amazing danishes. We learned so much about the Danish lifestyle and history and had a great time. Thanks again for a great tour, Søren!

The perfect city tour
My wife and I had an outstanding time on our tour of Copenhagen with Mie. It was a perfect balance of learning about Danish culture and enjoying the city alongside a hospitable local. If you want to experience Copenhagen, but you don't want to be that tourist who just checks all the boxes of obvious touristy things to do, this is for you.

Cool and relaxed way, viewing the district around Vesterbro
Great and urban way spending a 3 hour walk in Copenhagen seeing new spots and on top combined with beer tasting and a great guide Morten being very comitted, whats not to like!
Great way to know Copenhagen
Jens was our guide and we had a really great time. It was informative and interesting without a pre-scripted agenda. We learned many things - not only as it relates to the area but many other facts about Denmark and Copenhagen. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone wanting something off the beaten path. Jens was great!!

Great Way to See Norrebro
I had a great time on this tour - my guides were super friendly and knowledgeable, very easy to talk to. There were intermittent showers so we ducked into a few bars to escape the rain - great to hang out and chat. I had been staying in Norrebro and the tour was a perfect way to see some of the streets I had missed on my own walkabout over the weekend. Highly recommended!

I booked the beer and vice tour in vestebro as a birthday present for my husband on the last day of our break in Copenhagen. I thought it would be a different way of ending our holiday . I was right it was different informative and thoroughly enjoyable. Our guide Lars put us at our ease immediately and was a mine of information. The pubs we we visited were all different and all interesting in their own way and Lars had stories about them all. The area itself was one we probably would have missed on our own and that would have been a shame. So thank you Lars for a wonderful afternoon which flew by. I only wish I had booked the tour at the beginning of our time in Copenhagen as Lars had so much advice as to what to see and we missed a lot, still perhaps next time.

Karl gave us a great tour of Westerbro - lots of hidden gems and seedy underbelly to explore. He knew his stuff, and the beer was really just more refreshment than 'tasting'. You'll cover plenty of ground and find the local bars you definitely wouldn't see on your own. Great way to spend a leisurely afternoon in the city.
