The history of this Gurudwara is quite rich. It is said that during the tenure of Mirza Raja Jai Singh of Amber (Jaipur) in 1664, the Eighth Guru of Sikhs, Guru Harkishan Sahib used to stay here as a guest and later offered treatment to the people suffering from smallpox and cholera.

Originally a palace of Hindu King, this place holds a special place in Sikh history in Delhi. It is one of those 7 gurudwaras in Delhi, converted into Sikh Gurudwaras during Baba Baghel Singh Ji in 1783. Now attracts thousands of poor and rich people for food and worship, its the largest Sikh temple in Delhi.
