Vivek took us to the Chandni Chowk market for the most delicious food tour! He knew right where to take us in the bustling market. We took a rickshaw for part of the tour and then the car with an excellent driver (Ram) was waiting for us when we exited the market. Everything was well organized and we even received a recipe book from the Spice Market which I'm excited to use as soon as we get home!

Description

Start at 930 Am from hotel pickup in Delhi/Gurgaon/Noida, travel by air-conditioned vehicle to three or four Delhi markets of your choice. Start at Chandni Chowk The heart of Old Delhi, is a busy shopping area with markets full of spices, dried fruit, silver jewellery and vivid saris, while the narrow side streets are crowded with tiny shops selling essential oils, stationery and traditional Indian sweets. Nearby, the vast Mughal-era Red Fort and the 17th-century Jama Masjid is a huge red-sandstone mosque with towering minarets. Dariba Kalan, India It derives its name from the Persian Dur-e be-Baha, which translates as "unparalleled pearl", while suffix Kalan means big. There was also a smaller street nearby, known as Dariba Khurd or Chhota Dariba, both Khurd and Chhota meaning "small"; it is now known as Kinari Bazaar. This is about its history as a popular market for precious stones and gold and silver jewellery, especially under the reign of the 17th-century Mughal emperor Shah Jahan If you're looking for souvenirs, perhaps make a visit to Village Art or Dilli Haat, a government-authorized market selling traditional Indian arts and handicrafts; or visit Hauz Khas Village, an arty hub of boutiques, cafés, and galleries Alternatively, head for Khan Market, a mix of top brands, bookshops, and Indian and international restaurants. Perhaps finish at the modern malls of Saket. After your tour, you will be driven back to your hotel.
