In an old brick building with an interior done up like an unusually comfortable chemistry lab, Black Eye uses a minimalist setup for handcrafting individual cups of coffee (called a pour-over station) to satiate true aficionados.
If you love coffee but can't say why, this is an ideal place to learn more about the stuff. With a rotating selection of four beans, you can experiment and taste the subtleties of each. Also one of the java-Jedi owners is often present and happy to discuss the merits of fair-trade beans, elevation brewing and the many shortcomings of Starbucks.
If coffee isn't your bag the space is still great -one wall opens almost entirely to the street- and their freshly pressed juices are delicious.
