Clyfford Still Museum3
Why locals love it
Clyfford Still was pioneering abstract expressionism even before Jackson Pollock. His towering compositions immerse the viewer in swaths of saturated color that seem to rip into being from an unknown world just behind the canvas.

Why you should visit it
During his self-imposed exile from the New York School Still painted a vast body of work. Denver was personally selected by the artist to house his entire collection. The museum built for the purpose is a masterpiece, with a perforated ceiling that filters natural light, illuminating the space without exposing the paintings to harmful UV rays.
Special tip
The $10 adult admission fee is truly a great value for the experience, but if you're on a shoestring entry is free the last Friday of every month.
