Why locals love it

Denver is about as far in the country as you can get from either ocean. Nonetheless, locals still crave fresh seafood and those in the know come to Jax's to get it. With offerings ranging from caviar to crawfish, the dishes are so good you'll wonder if the owner has a secret landlocked marina. All of the rotating menu items are sustainably sourced.

Why you should visit it

The energy is superb, the decor is nautically themed and the place is often crowded. Happy hour can get especially busy, but the affordably priced varieties of oysters make the wait and lack of person space worthwhile.

Special tip

Always review the specials and ask the staff for tips. Everything here is good, but the best plates are those specific to that season.

Delicious food. A bit on the more expensive side, but worth it and doesn't feel overly fancy. Also has a great beer selection, but my mom (who is a wino from Northern California) was disappointed by their wine selection and the high prices of wine by the glass. The seafood was great though.
