Fry Model Railway

Why locals love it

Malahide is a charming village on the coast just to the north of Dublin city. It is easily reached by train and has all the makings of a good family day out. The Fry Model Railway was saved from being put into storage and re-homed to the center. It is now housed in the Casino - the former hunting lodge associated with the nearby castle.

Why you should visit it

Both adults and children will enjoy the model railway. Construction started in the 1920's and it was in private ownership until 1988 when it went on public display for the first time. It has been updated over the intervening years and now features stations and landscapes showing Ireland throughout the 20th Century.

Special tip

Take in Malahide Castle and Demesne while you are in the village, they are beautifully maintained and well worth a visit, especially on a sunny day.
