Il Fornaio has been a favorite of 'northsiders' since it opened its first branch in Kilbarrack over 15 years ago. It then opened a second cafe/restaurant in the financial services center about 10 years ago. This Dame Street cafe is the first city center location they have opened as the other two are somewhat off the beaten track for tourists

Why you should visit it
If the window display of handmade confections isn't enough to tempt you in the door then certainly the aroma of the fresh coffee should be. This shop is tiny so it serves takeaway only but don't let that put you off visiting. The selection of sweet and savory snacks is top quality and well priced.
Special tip
If you are looking for a good Italian sit down meal catch the Luas red line to Mayor Square where you will find the larger restaurant/cafe
